As children we rarely care about quality so much as we do quantity. Typically, the quicker and the more chores or homework that can be stuffed into a given hour the better. To the child’s mind it simply means that playing outside, lounging in front of the television and a host other important childhood activities can resume. Little if any care is given to the outcome of the work performed. Only with adulthood looming does the value of quality above quantity become apparent.

Perhaps our increasingly fast forward society is to blame but unfortunately many people do not reach the aforementioned epiphany. Instead they become gourmands; in the culinary world a French word referring to a person who values quantity above quality. In the real world it means a person destined to meander from purchase to purchase worried solely about how much (quantity) they can get for their dollar irrespective of the finished product and its effect on their own image.

If instead you live your life from a gourmet perspective, quality will permeate everything about you from the food you consume to the clothes you wear to the invitations you insist on to beckon your loved ones to your event.
